Gotrek: movement and the two axe forms

Keep moving to get more from the Fyrestorm Greataxe; its evolution, Zangrom-Thaz, keeps swinging even while you stand still. This is the announced weapon comparison associated with Gotrek Gurnisson, the Realmslayer. It is not a current-demo unlock guide.

Movement changes axe behaviour. A schematic comparison of the announced weapons, not a measured damage or speed chart.

Before evolution: movement matters

The February 25 developer reveal describes the Fyrestorm Greataxe sweeping around the player. Moving increases its speed and strength and changes its direction. Remaining idle reduces damage. The swing ends after a certain amount of damage has been dealt, but the reveal gives no numerical threshold.

As a play approach, favour movement paths that keep room around you rather than relying on an idle damage loop. No exact orbit radius or required movement speed is established.

After evolution: rotation stays active

Zangrom-Thaz circles continuously when you remain still, and accelerates when you move. Evolution also calls Gotrek to your side as an ally. If you are already playing as Gotrek, it does not create a second Gotrek.

The newer dedicated reveal calls the base weapon Fyrestorm Greataxe; the earliest character announcement used the broader name Fyreslayer Axe. These descriptions do not establish two separate recipes. A required companion item and an October-demo rescue route are not provided.

See the documented October-demo recipes, or return to the character guide for profiles with current-demo observations.
